Dale and Christines story
June 4, 2026
At DC Equipment what drives the business has never simply been machinery. It has always been people. Dale and Christine Ewers built DC Equipment from the ground up with a vision born out of real experience in New Zealand’s steep-slope logging industry. As owners of Moutere Logging, they lived the realities of forestry every day the long hours, the pressure, the danger, and the responsibility of making sure crews made it home safely to their families. For Dale, the turning point came after witnessing serious near misses and injuries on the hill. Seeing the impact that forestry accidents had on workers, crews, and families changed the way he viewed the industry forever. Instead of accepting “the way things had always been done,” Dale and Christine began asking a different question:
What if there was a better way? That question became the foundation of DC Equipment. What started as a small repair workshop soon evolved into a company driven by innovation, purpose, and determination. Dale’s ideas, combined with Christine’s unwavering support and belief in the vision, led to the development of technology designed to remove people from the most dangerous parts of steep-slope harvesting. Their goal was never just to build equipment. Their goal was to save lives. Every product developed by DC Equipment has been created with a simple philosophy keep people out of harm’s way while improving productivity and creating a better future for forestry crews around the world. From the Falcon Claw Grapple Carriage to winch-assist technology and automated harvesting solutions, every innovation has been driven by firsthand experience and a genuine desire to protect workers. Today, that same purpose continues to guide the company. DC Equipment is still deeply connected to the people behind the industry the operators, mechanics, technicians, families, and crews who rely on forestry every day. The business exists because Dale and Christine believe forestry can be both safer and smarter, without losing the hardworking values the industry was built on. Their vision reaches far beyond New Zealand. They want to lead the world in steep-slope harvesting solutions that combine safety, efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. But at the heart of it all remains the same motivation that started the journey years ago: Making sure more people get home safe at the end of the day.
